Baker military rifle , cal .62 . This rifle was designed by Ezechiel Baker. In February 1800 it underwent tests that were aimed at choosing the best military rifle. The first ones had 17,5 mm caliber ( the same as the British military rifles of that time) and barrel with 7 grooves and 3048 mm twist rate.
As a result of above mentioned tests the caliber size was reduced to 15,8 mm. Changed barrel had at first 20 then 7 grooves ( 3048 mm right twist rate).
Baker rifle was a muzzleloading flintlock with a rifled barrel. It was usually equiped with fixed sights, however some pieces had folding sights with setting of 270 m.
Bayonet was attached to a bayonet lug welded onto the right side of the barrel.
Offered replica is a Baker's smoothbarrel version with flash hole, all mechanisms work.
We do have also Bayonets for this rifle in our offer.
