An 1801 cavalry broadsword, originally designated AN IX, later modified to become the AN XIII. A popular weapon, it was only replaced by the 1816 model, though it remained in use in various formations for many decades. The blade bears the marks of the imperial manufacture in Klinghental, as well as acceptance marks on the hilt and grip guard. The blade tip has a distinctive shape, distinct from later models.
